Following the increasing success of this prestigious annual event, HAMPSHIRE the county magazine is proud to announce, and seek nominations for, its Hampshire awards initiative 2011.
The event presents a golden opportunity to reward and recognise excellence in several different categories, which will help to enhance the already high standing of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. There are twelve award categories listed below. To enter, all you need to do is fill out an entry form (see below) and send it to us with a short 500 word statement about why you, or the person you are nominating, should be a winner and where required photographic evidence or business records and marketing literature in support.
The awards will be presented at a gala, black tie dinner. The 2011 awards will be held at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, on Friday April 29th 2011.
The lifetime achievement award will be presented to the person, currently living in Hampshire or the Isle of Wight, who has made the biggest contribution to the county during their lifetime.
Our armed forces are full of heroes, but is there one person who really stands out and deserves the recognition of the county?
We are looking for a tale of heroism from the emergency services. This person may have helped you personally, or you may know of someone who has come to the aid of others in a way that is above and beyond the call of duty.
We are looking for a star business, not an individual, so if you know of or, indeed, are running a successful and unique business that has a strong sense of identity, let us know. We are looking for financial success, staff motivation and growth and a solid, proven and sustainable business and ongoing marketing plan.
This is a prestigious award for a professional or 'amateur' carer, young or old, whether he or she is a doctor, nurse, paramedic, residential care worker, social worker, friend or family member or child who cares for someone or a group of people close to them. Perhaps the individual goes that extra mile and illustrates a selfless ability to put other people's immediate needs, before their own and in so doing deserves recognition.
This award will be presented to the person who has produced a high quality or unique edible product, whether it is vegetable, meat, fish, dairy or beverage and who has developed strategies to market and sell his/her produce throughout the Hampshire county, the Isle of Wight and beyond.
The winner/s of this award will have shown great initiative in providing the best possible personal service and care for his/her village via the village shop and who can demonstrate improved efficiency and or sales and a successful business model.
This award is open to both those whose gardens are open to the public and to those with a garden that demonstrates imagination and flair. Photographs are invited in support of these nominations, and the judges will draw up a short-list and may make personal visits to gardeners.
Community groups that make a worthwhile difference to the lives of Hampshire residents are in the running for this prize. Working with the police to make the community a safer place or with schools or the elderly, the judges are looking for the group that is at the very heart of its community.
Is your local pub an outstanding and welcoming place to visit? Do you know of a restaurant, hotel or pub that you want to return to again and again? This is their chance to bask in the limelight. Judges will make secret visits to the restaurants in support of their judging decisions!
The winner of this award will be a very special education professional, whose work has had a lasting impact on the lives of their pupils.
The Hampshire Young Achiever of the Year award will be given to the person who has made a most outstanding contribution, in whatever field, and is aged 24 years or under at the time of the closing date.
